Summary

For the first time in years, the team at Didomi is delighted to share the release of a new and improved blog, with an improved experience for readers, additional features, and a renewed emphasis on welcoming guest writers and contributors.

Introducing our new Didomi Blog, your guide to data privacy

Since our inception as a company at the onset of the GDPR, Didomi has always emphasized creating high-value content to educate the general public and help our customers weed through the intricacies of data privacy.

Throughout the years, we have been able to break down major news and complex topics, from the possibility of Google Analytics being illegal in Europe to the IAB Europe vs Belgian APD saga, as well as countless country guides addressing specific local laws and interpretations of the GDPR, and more.

These efforts all stem from our mission to bring clarity and expertise to our readers, whether they are our customers or netizens, as explained by our CEO, Romain Gauthier:

“Content has always been a priority at Didomi, as we strive to distribute high-quality, thought-provoking, and helpful resources that make the world of data privacy a bit easier to navigate. Hope you enjoy our blog!”

- Romain Gauthier
, CEO and co-founder at Didomi

We are proud that our blog has now become a reference among data privacy professionals and that our editorial work has proven helpful for many organizations in their pursuit of better data privacy practices:

“Didomi's regular content gives us a reading of privacy news from the point of view of a pioneering player in consent collection.”

- Louis Audureau,
Manager at M13h

“Didomi’s content stands out from other privacy tech vendors. Their collaboration with industry experts, strong branding, and high-quality designs in each piece of content make their resources consistently impressive and unique.”

- Mert Can Boyar, Founder at Compliance Detective, director at Bilgi University Privacy Innovation Lab

However, after years of publishing weekly updates and upon the release of our updated branding last year, we knew it was time for our blog to get an update.

What’s new in the Didomi Blog 2.0?

The entire project to revamp our blog has been in the works for months, led by an internal squad at the intersection of digital, content, design, and engineering.

Our Head of Digital, Jean-Christophe Mauss, shares his approach to the massive undertaking of not only upgrading our blog but also switching to a different Content Management System (CMS) in the process:

“The Didomi Blog has always been a crucial channel for driving traffic and engaging our audience. To elevate our team agility and accelerate our time to market, we transitioned our entire CMS strategy, starting with our main website and extending to the blog. With Webflow, we quickly built in a matter of weeks some key features that were missing before, significantly enhancing the user experience.

I'm proud of what we've achieved and excited about the new possibilities this upgrade unlocks."

Following the release of our Global Privacy UX Solutions last year, which included a branding overhaul, the Didomi Blog was overdue for a visual update to match the overall website experience.

On top of brand consistency, Art Director Laura Zuliani and the creative team took special care in ensuring optimal legibility, something that has been top of mind given the complexity of the subject matter we discuss on the blog:

“With the blog redesign, we aimed to align with our updated branding and provide a cohesive user experience. Our focus was on making the content visually appealing and easy to read, ensuring consistency across all our platforms.”

- Laura Zuliani
, Art Director at Didomi

For that purpose and along with a more up-to-date design, the team made important changes on the interface for a better, more cohesive experience for our readers. The UI designer in charge of the project, Pauline Sepulveda, made sure the reader experience was at the forefront of this project:

"In the process of redesigning our blog, our focus was to craft a complete and optimal user experience, through a look and feel that mirrors the website to fully fit in with the Didomi brand. Thanks to a refined interface and a wealth of new functionalities, our readers can now access the content they are looking for more quickly and easily than ever."

- Pauline Sepulveda
, UI designer at Didomi

Some of the small but impactful improvements made to create a better reading experience include:

  • A sticky summary for each article, allowing readers to jump to specific sections.
  • A time-to-read preview, bringing transparency to readers before starting to read.
  • A search button, so you can easily search and access previous posts.
  • An improved “Related articles” section in the footer of each article to access previous posts.
  • Full-width display, for improved reading comfort and clearer images.

Critically, the team was able to simplify the tagging system across the blog, classifying all the articles into ten different categories:

  • Industry news, articles focused on deciphering the latest news and getting to the core of current data privacy issues.
  • Country and state guides, for actionable insights on local regulations, both in the world and specifically in the U.S.
  • Case studies, highlighting the great work from our clients and projects with partners.
  • The Privacy Soapbox, our op-ed column open to internal and external collaborators.
  • Privacy 101 and Privacy guides, articles focusing on specific data privacy topics, with varying degrees of difficulty.
  • Life at Didomi, sharing the culture at Didomi, from remote work to employee development
  • Newsroom, for corporate press releases and announcements from our team.
  • Didomi Solutions, articles and guides focused on our offering and how to make the most of our solutions.

Of course, Didomi content remains international, and these changes to the blog were applied across the board in English but also in French, Spanish, and German.

It was all made possible by the work of our entire team, which gathered feedback and initiated changes thanks to our new CMS (more on that soon; stay tuned). But this is only the beginning of a new era for the Didomi Blog. Filipa Morais Graça, our Product Owner Leads Experience, shares her view for the future:

“As we’ve transitioned to our new CMS and enhanced our blog, we're excited about the possibilities ahead. We see this as an evolving journey, where feedback will be invaluable in helping us shape the best possible experience. We're committed to continually iterating and improving, ensuring that our content not only meets but exceeds expectations. Stay tuned, and please share your thoughts with us as we move forward together.”

Want to get involved? Data privacy writers welcome!

Lastly, the new blog will emphasize welcoming diverse voices from the data privacy industry. We started this process last year with our Privacy Soapbox, a category that gives privacy professionals, guest writers, and opinionated industry members a platform to share their unique points of view, stories, and insights about data privacy:

“One of the most interesting and rewarding parts of my job is collaborating with talented privacy professionals from around the world, sharing their unique views and opinions on the world of data privacy.

We’ve been lucky to create content throughout the years with
a wide range of influential figures from our industry and I am excited to welcome more external collaborators going forward.”

- Thierry Maout
, Lead content manager at Didomi

Aside from opinion writers, we’ve welcomed guest collaborators for years, collaborating with talented writers who can share their expertise with our audience. Peter Oladimeji and Ali Talip Pınarbası are twoof our frequent collaborators, whose penmanship you might have encountered in articles ranging from country laws to educational privacy content:

“The current state of play in privacy today reveals a crack in the foundations that can only be filled with proper orientation & training.

Thankfully, Didomi’s approach to thought leadership is grounded in this belief; that data privacy should not be a mere bolt-on, but deeply woven into departmental processes, shaping and influencing both company culture and its subcultures. This approach aligns with my interest in how companies operationalize privacy, making my work with Didomi’s blog a truly rewarding partnership.”

- Peter Oladimeji
, Writer and lawyer

“Crafting privacy articles with Didomi is a great learning experience. I take great joy in offering unique insights to the privacy community and in working with a friendly and dedicated team at Didomi.”

- Ali Talip Pınarbası, Solicitor and GDPR-Contract Law Lawyer
