Summary

Every quarter, we take the opportunity to reflect on the product achievements and milestones of the past few months, and give you a preview of what’s around the corner.

As we enter the fall, let’s look at some of the highlights from a busy summer at Didomi and for data privacy as an industry.

Our CMP is now a Google-certified Gold Partner

In September 2024, our team was awarded Gold CMP Partner status in Google's revamped CMP Partner Program

This recognition underscores the quality of our Consent Mode experience, including set-up, customer support, and implementation accuracy. Google has introduced three different levels for this new tiering program (Bronze, Silver, Gold), and our product team incorporated some changes to our solutions to ensure our ranking in the top status:

  • Built-in implementation checks: We introduced new indicators for Didomi users to confirm that their Google Consent Mode implementation is accurate and banners are set up correctly
  • Additional CMS integrations: We further expanded the available integrations with Content Management Systems to ensure seamless GCM integration in various environments.
  • Streamlined notice creation: Our enhanced consent notice wizard now offers a smoother, more efficient process for your compliance needs.

Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) amendments

We’ve long been documenting the ongoing legal saga between IAB Europe and the Belgian APD regarding the TCF.

Earlier this year, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that Transparency and Consent (TC) Strings may be considered personal data if they can be linked with identifiable data points, enabling the identification of individuals. In response, the TCF Steering Group approved a new iteration of the Framework, incorporating amendments to help participants comply with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR.

These updates align with the action plan approved by the Belgian Data Protection Authority, ensuring TC Strings are processed per GDPR requirements, and are the following:

  • The inclusion of Special Purpose 3, “Save and Communicate Privacy Choices"
  • New secondary layer UI requirement for CMPs
  • Policies versioning

We implemented the necessary changes to ensure full compliance in our solutions and mitigate the impact on our clients.
