Webedia is a French group with an international presence in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Latin America. With over 2,300 employees worldwide, Webedia manages more than 60 websites and around 130 mobile applications, generating monthly traffic in exceeding 250 million visitors.
The group covers several sectors, including cinema, lifestyle, influence and video games, with iconic brands such as AlloCiné, Purepeople, 750g and JV (Jeuxvideo.com).
Pauline Carré, Mobile Applications Product Manager at Webedia, looks back on her experience with Didomi in their application domain.
Challenge: Ensure compliance for a diversified range of applications
Managing the protection of user data on a portfolio of 130 mobile applications was one of Webedia's main challenges, due to the considerable time required to standardize user paths within these applications.
Operating on an advertising-driven business model, Webedia faced the challenge of ensuring GDPR compliance across its diverse portfolio of mobile applications. Maintaining a seamless and intuitive user experience was crucial for the company, alongside safeguarding profitability and ensuring user journeys were both harmonized and fully compliant with current regulations.
Webedia needed to strike a delicate balance between safeguarding personal data and ensuring the profitability of its applications. This required a robust and reliable solution that not only guaranteed GDPR compliance but also offered adaptability to evolving regulations across its entire application portfolio.
Solution : Implementation of a complete solution for centralized consent management
Managing compliance internally was not a viable option for Webedia, as it would have required mobilizing specialized technical resources that the company preferred to allocate elsewhere. Instead, Webedia opted to implement Didomi's Consent Management Platform (CMP) across all its mobile applications. This decision was driven by the quality of the solution, which effectively addressed GDPR requirements and demonstrated adaptability to evolving regulations.
Furthermore, the solution centralizes consent management across all Webedia applications via a single console, simplifying coordination and ensuring uniformity of compliance processes.
We chose Didomi for its comprehensive solution, capable of centralizing consent management for all our applications via a single console.”
- Pauline Carré, Mobile Applications Product Manager at Webedia
The lead developers mainly handled the integration of the Didomi SDK and configuration via the global console, and the process proved relatively straightforward.
Initially, the integration focused on the basic configuration of the Didomi SDK. However, in May 2021, a new directive from the CNIL mandated that all websites and applications display the buttons for accepting or refusing data sharing with equal prominence. In response, Webedia updated its consent banner to enhance the visibility of the opt-out button, ensuring full compliance with the latest requirements.
We turned to Didomi and they recommended a solution that had worked for other customers. And it worked very well indeed. Whenever we needed Didomi, their team was there.
- Pauline Carré, Mobile Applications Product Manager at Webedia
Since then, the solution has operated seamlessly, requiring no significant adjustments. The implementation process was swift and efficient, completed in less than a month. This quick turnaround allowed Webedia to achieve regulatory compliance promptly while preserving an optimal user experience.
For the design of its consent banner, Webedia prioritized simplicity by adopting the legal wording recommended by Didomi. The objective was to deliver a seamless and coherent user experience while respecting the diverse visual identities of its brands. This tailored approach ensures visual continuity, enhancing brand recognition and reassuring users that they are engaging with Webedia group services.
To manage the SDKs, Webedia primarily relied on Didomi's documentation to understand the purpose of each one. The SDK parameters were configured in collaboration with lead developers, as each brand within the group has its own unique requirements. While some SDKs are shared across all applications, others are tailored to specific brands. This collaborative approach allowed Webedia to customize the implementation for each brand, ensuring optimal alignment with their individual needs.
Generally speaking, whenever we need to update the Didomi SDK, the documentation is very comprehensive. We rarely have any questions on the subject, and the process runs smoothly. We've never had a problem with the SDK.

Results: Optimized management for an overall consent rate of 70%.
Since implementing Didomi's CMP, Webedia has successfully centralized consent management across all its applications. Over this period, the company has maintained an impressive overall consent acceptance rate of 70%.
Their CMP analytics not only allow Webedia to continuously monitor performance but also provide insights into user consent trends across different geographical areas, revealing notable regional variations. For instance, in Spain, the consent rate reaches 96%, whereas in France, some applications report a rate of 50%
Didomi's analytics helped Webedia track the impact of changes on consent rates in real-time, guiding them in fine-tuning their strategy.
The collaboration between Webedia and Didomi has been highly effective. Through the combined efforts of their teams and the support provided by Didomi, Webedia successfully streamlined consent management, enhanced regulatory compliance, and maintained a seamless user experience tailored to the unique identities of its various brands.
We chose not to invest in developing technical expertise in legal compliance within our mobile application development team, as it would have been too time-consuming, costly, and outside our core business focus. With Didomi, we are relieved of a significant operational and mental burden.
- Pauline Carré, Mobile Applications Product Manager at Webedia
Integrating Didomi's CMP has allowed Webedia to focus entirely on its core business with confidence and peace of mind.
Looking ahead, Webedia intends to continue its successful collaboration with Didomi. According to Pauline Carré, Didomi's solution excels in its simplicity and efficiency: periodic SDK updates are all that's required to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulations. This user-friendly approach keeps Webedia's applications compliant and empowers users to transparently understand and manage the data they share and its intended purposes.
